History of establishment and growth of LPSA Perak as the state statutory water resources regulator
Lembaga Pengurusan Sumber Air Perak (LPSA Perak) is a statutory body established under the Perak Water Resources Enactment 2023.
Its establishment aims to manage state water resources in an integrated manner through three key mechanisms: development, protection, and enforcement.
Key milestones from establishment to the present
The Perak State Assembly approved the Perak Water Resources Enactment 2023 (Enactment 18) as the new legal basis for integrated water resource management.
Parts 1, 2, 3 and 8 of the Enactment came into force, establishing LPSA Perak as the statutory water resources regulator.
The first meeting of LPSA Perak members, chaired by the State Secretary as Deputy Chairman, set the direction for establishment and operations.
Two initial officers were appointed to support administration and legal functions: Puan Hanita binti Alang Ismail and Cik Nur Syahidah binti Mohammad.
The State Executive Council meeting (Bil. 2166, 2 January 2025) approved the appointment of Puan Siti Azura binti Juki as the first Director of LPSA Perak.
LPSA Perak welcomed two officers and five support staff to strengthen daily operations.
An early initiative to draft new regulations to transform licensing and water charges for abstraction and diversion activities in Perak.
The Perak State Executive Council gazetted the Water Resources Regulations (Abstraction & Diversion) 2025 and the Water Charge Notice (Abstraction & Diversion) 2025.
The regulations came into force as a transitional phase for enforcement and licensing of state water resources.
The LPSA Perak counter opened at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan to strengthen licensing services, advisory support, and enquiries.
